Thunar is the file manager that is included. I found I was unable to browse or view SMB network shares with Thunar. After digging around for a while, I found I needed to add <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/packages.debian.org\/bookworm\/gvfs-backends\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gvfs-backends<\/a><\/strong> to my laptop along with cifs-utils.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>sudo apt install cifs-utils<br>sudo apt install gvfs-backends gvfs-fuse smbclient<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"720\" height=\"453\" src=\"https:\/\/tekweis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/ThunarNetworkBrowse.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-533\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tekweis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/ThunarNetworkBrowse.png 720w, https:\/\/tekweis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/ThunarNetworkBrowse-300x189.png 300w, https:\/\/tekweis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/ThunarNetworkBrowse-660x415.png 660w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> Now all is good. I&#8217;ve always hated Thunar because of network browsing. Never realized it could have been fixed easily by me a long time ago.
